How strength is described
The strength labels below are the shop's own product descriptions. They are not laboratory figures for each batch. A laboratory study of commercial truffles gives an idea of how much they can vary: it of Psilocybe atlantis sclerotia found between 0.6 and 1.7 mg of psilocybin per gram of fresh truffle (Pellegrini et al. 2013). Two packs of the same strain can feel different for that reason alone.
Strength also depends on the amount taken and on the person. Dutch-Smart's descriptions of the stronger strains repeat the same advice: start at the low end, even with experience. For Valhalla the shop adds that you should wait at least 90 minutes before drawing conclusions about the effect.

Step 1: mild, for a first time
Mexicana is described by the shop as "the most accessible entry-level strain in the selection". Tampanensis, sold as Philosopher's Stones, is "mild to moderate, suitable as an entry-level strain for new users", with effects the shop describes as introspective. Pajaritos is a Mexicana variety grown for longer, "slightly stronger than standard Mexicana" and still gentler than Atlantis.

Step 2: medium, after a first experience
Atlantis is "moderate to strong, significantly stronger than Mexicana or Pajaritos", and the shop advises starting with a milder strain if you have never taken truffles. Dragon's Dynamite is "medium-strong", with what the shop calls a euphoric and energetic character, and is likewise not meant as a first introduction.

Step 3: strong
Utopia is bred from Atlantis with a longer growing period and has "higher potency than standard Atlantis". Space Invaders is "strong, comparable to Hollandia and Double Vision". Double Vision comes in a 25 gram pack that the shop presents as enough for two people.

Step 4: very strong, for experienced users
Hollandia is "very strong, suitable for users with some experience". Valhalla, developed by Mush Magic, is "very strong, for advanced users". High Hawaiians come in a 25 gram pack and are "among the strongest in the selection"; the shop says they are only for people with extensive experience and should never be taken alone.

If the taste puts you off
Not everyone likes eating truffles raw. Voyager Happy Tea is a herbal blend that, according to Dutch-Smart, masks the taste of up to 15 grams of truffles when they are made into tea.
Before you order
- Where it goes. Dutch-Smart ships with PostNL within the Netherlands, including to pick-up points. Order for an address where you will be during your stay.
- Timing. Truffles are fresh. Keep them in the fridge at 2 to 4 °C and use them during the stay.
- Age. Sold to adults aged 18 and over only.
- One pack per person. The shop describes a 15 gram pack as the amount for one person per session, and advises lower amounts of the stronger strains.
- Nothing goes home. Any leftover truffle is a Class A drug at the UK border. The Netherlands page explains the import offence.
