We say that first because it affects how you should read everything else. The site exists because most of what turns up in a search for UK mushroom law is either a seller's blog or a one-line answer. We wanted a page that shows the law itself, explains it phrase by phrase, and is clear about the parts that do not help sales: truffles are Class A in the UK, growing kits are production, and nothing bought in the Netherlands can come home.
How the site is made
- The statute passages are copied from the official text on legislation.gov.uk, under the Open Government Licence. Each passage links to its source and shows the date we last checked it.
- The notes explain what a phrase means in practice. They rely on the explanatory notes and memoranda published with the legislation, guidance from the Crown Prosecution Service and the Sentencing Council, and published court judgments.
- Dutch law is described from Dutch public sources, chiefly the addiction service Jellinek and published rulings of the Dutch courts.
- Product strengths are the shop's own descriptions and are labelled as such.
- We make no medical or health claims of any kind, and we do not publish testimonials or reviews.
This is general information about the law, not legal advice for a particular case. If you are facing a charge, speak to a solicitor; legal aid may be available.
Every page shows when it was last updated. Laws, guidelines and products change. If something here is out of date or wrong, Dutch-Smart's customer service can pass it on to us.
Who is behind the shop

Dutch-Smart is a smartshop based in the Netherlands. It sells only to adults, and its truffles are for use where they are legal: in the Netherlands, during your stay.
